Masala Trail Mix

My Indian in-laws raved about this masala trail mix when I first made it for them. It is absolutely delicious and full of flavor. Every time they visit us from out of town I make it and/or they request I make more.  Enjoy!  Write and let us know if you enjoyed this recipe.

The Most Delicious Masala Trail Mix Recipe

This recipe makes approximately 6 Cups

2 teaspoons cumin seeds, dry roasted and coarsely ground

3 teaspoons chat masala

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon black salt (omit if you can't find it)

Cooking spray

1 cup smoked almonds

1 cup pistachios

1 cup cashews

1 cup peanuts

1 cup pumpkin or sunflower seeds

1 cup wasabi peas

1 teaspoon dried mint

1.) Mix together the cumin seeds, chat masala, chili powder and black salt in a small bowl.

2.) Spray a medium size sauce pan with the cooking spray.  Over medium heat lightly brown the nuts and seeds about 1  min. I like to do this in batches.  After each batch is lightly browned set aside into a medium sized bowl.

3.) After all the nuts and seeds have been lightly browned and placed into a the medium sized bowl add the spice mixture and toss well to make sure all the coats are coated with the spice mix. Transfer the nuts into a medium bowl, quickly add the spice mixture and toss well, making sure that the nuts are well coated.

4.) Add the dried mint and wasabi peas and adjust the seasoning to taste.

5.) Let the mixture cool and place in an airtight container.  This masala trail mix an be stored for 3-4 weeks.
